Online Virtual Terminals for Electronic Payment Transaction Processing A "virtual terminal" or "online terminal" is a standard utility that is offered by online payment gateway providers. A virtual terminal runs on a web page within a browser program of a computer. When a merchant subscribes to an online payment gateway, they are provided with an online gateway account portal. A link is provided within this portal for accessing the virtual terminal. With some configurations, the merchant can assign user names and passwords to limit employee access to the virtual terminal and its features. The virtual terminal allows a payment transaction to be "keyed in" with the computer. If an optional magnetic stripe card reader is connected to the computer, the purchaser's card can be swiped and the card data will automatically populate the proper fields presented on the web page. The use of the mag stripe card reader is recommended as it allows the merchant to receive the lower swiped rates for the payment transaction. Additional features include the ability to send the purchaser a transaction receipt by email or printed receipt with an attached printer. A virtual terminal can be a practical alternative to a countertop terminal by eliminating the expense associated with this additional piece of equipment as well as permitting a payment transaction to be conducted from any internet-connected computer. Virtual terminal is available with online payment gateways we offer from Authorize.Net, eProcessing Network, and EPIC. With the independent eProcessing Network gateway, a virtual terminal can be added to just about any existing merchant account. As an authorized reseller for eProcessing Network, we offer their basic services at an outstanding value: Basic Service Levels (additional services may be added as necessary, click here for additional details):
